As Senior Copywriter, I was tasked with dreaming up the most gloriously unhinged organic social content imaginable for Adult Swim’s & Rick & Morty’s social channels. The work paid off: millions of engagements, Webby Awards, Clios, and perhaps a slightly weakened grasp on reality.
The trophies are nice, sure, but the real reward was collaborating to create some of the most subversive, boundary-pushing brand work out there.
Everything you see below was written or ideated by myself, working at Movement Strategy, in collaboration with Art Directors, Ryan Padgham and Patrick Adley, under ACD, Roland Parker.
We spun a yarn to the awards committees about having guiding principles behind our work. We didn’t. The shock when they gave us a Webby and a Clio!
The next year, we came clean about fibbing to the awards committees. They must’ve appreciated our honesty; they gave us another Clio and another Webby.
Then, because we didn’t have enough doorstops, they gave us another Clio for our work supporting Adult Swim’s real-life treasure hunt, WORMAGEDDON!!!
